TRUTH

Truth

Jack was a nasty lad. He loved to play pranks on people. One day Jack decided to play a prank on his classmates. They were having lessons as usual, when suddenly,Jack shouted," Ah. my stomach hurts!" Everyone stopped what they were doing and attended to him." Ha , ha hahahaha! You got fooled by me again!" Jack laughed. Everyone was very angry with Jack. On the next day, Jack decided to play the same trick on his classmates but this time they did not believe him. Suddenly, Jack realised that his stomach was hurting a lot. He tried to ask his friends for help but this time no one believed him. He rolled on the floor. Just then his classmates turned to him and said," Jack, are you all right?" Jack was in so much pain that he could not say a word. His friends immediately called for the ambulance and sent him to the hospital. After a few days, Jack's friends came to visit him. " I promise never to lie again." Jack said, feeling very remorseful.
Reflection: I feel that truth means we should not lie to others and hurt them. However sometimes we may tell some white lies. I will not tell lies. If I didn't do my home work, I will own up to my teacher. I will tell him the truth amd the reason why I didn't do it.

LOVE

LOVE

"Son, run for your life!" A guy shouted. The boy stood rooted to the spot as he imagined all the horrors that could unfold right before him. The boy did not know what to do. "Don't bother about me, just run for your life!"the guy pleaded. The boy did as he was told. When he looked back, he saw his father being bashed up.Blood splattered on the ground. The boy's father was beaten till he was unconscious."I think we better leave,"one of the guys said. The left the man lying unconscious on the ground and left the scene."Dad, Dad..."the boy cried. He cried as he hugged his badly bashed father to his chest. "Someone, please call the ambulance, please, please," the boy begged. All he could do was to wait anxiously. When they were on the way to the hospital, flashbacks of the father's love for him kept on replaying in his mind. He then realised that all the things his father did was for him. At that juncture, the boy felt very remorseful and full of guilt. He had not appreciated what his father did for him.
Reflections: The word love means a person's love for something or someone. In this story, the father sacrificed his life for his son. The father has shown his love for his son, but has his son shown any love for his father? We should not abuse the word love by saying" I LOVE YOU", but it is not from the bottom of your heart. I can show love in my daily life by not fighting with my brother. I can also spread love to people around us.

GOD-FEARING

God-fearing
" We sincerely pledge to carry out our duties sincerely and to the best of our abilities." Brian solemnly said those words. " Oh really, ha.. ha.hahaha" John burst out laughing. " Mind you, have you no respect for authority? I am the monitor and you must have full respect for me." Brian felt disappointed with his so called " best friend". " All right, I do not mean to hurt you. I am sorry for what I just did." John apologised. " What is God fearing?" John asked suddenly." It means that we have to respect God and believe that God will help those who help themselves. We must not use His name in vain." " Oh my God!" John was about to ... " Ah..ah.. you don't use His name in vain, remember?" Brian reminded his friend. " I will try to keep that in mind."John answered.
Reflection: God-fearing means that we should not fear god and instead, we should love and respect him.In our daily lifes, the words that are commonly used are "OH MY GOD" or "OH GOD". We should not use god's name in vain. We can try substituting those words with words like "Oh Gosh" God-fearing also means that we should respect the authority of teachers, parents and school leaders. God will also help those people who help themselves. I can uphold my school rules by not breaking any of them. I will respect the people that have the authorities.

MAXIMISING POTENTIAL

Maximising Potential
"What does maximsing Potential mean?"Lily asked. "Well, maximsing potential means that we should set high goals:target setting. For example, if you score 75 for this CA1, you can try setting your target at 80 marks. It is important to work hard to achieve your goal."Mary said. "It can also mean that we can motivate ourselves and make maximum use of our abilities and make learning a life-long habit,"Aunt SaSha, the school attendant, said."Signing up for a computer course is also a way to maximise my potential."Aunt Sasha smiled."We should take our CCAs seriously. We must not lose out to Aunt Sasha!" The girls cheered out loud.
Reflection:Maximising Potential means that we should find out what our strengths are and work on them. We should keep on learning no matter how old we are and upgrade ourselves constantly. I must set my targets and work towards my goal.

INTEGRITY

Integrity

"Sam, you are late again! I will have to bring you to see the prefect master." warned the prefect on duty at the gate. " Whatever! It's not my fault" Sam protested." I have told my mum to hurry but she just won't listen and now I am in trouble. It's not fair!" she cried. When Sam was brought to the discipline master, a voice boomed," Is this the girl who has taken something from the teachers' room?" Another prefect confirmed it," Yes, Mr Lim. I saw her leaving the room with a bag in her hand when no teacher was in yesterday. I tried to stop her but she kept on running. I recognise her hair and I know her name. She is Sam." Sam did not dare to look at Mr Lim and he stared hard at her with piercing eyes. Sam felt like a thousand daggers stabbing at her and she finally admitted. " I am truly sorry for what I have done. Please forgive my untimely playfulness." "What about your attendance and punctuality? I was told that you have been absent from school very often and you did not have any valid reasons for not attending school. Why is it so?" Mr Lim interrogated. " I..I overslept" Sam said softly. " So have you found your integrity? You have to account for the the things that you have done wrongly and be responsible for your actions." Mr Lim went on. " I will remember not to do it, Mr Lim. Please give me another chance, please.." Sam pleaded. Reflection:Integrity means that we should own up to our mistakes and repent. We have to take responsibility seriously and do what is right. We should attend school regularly and punctually.

FREEDOM

Freedom
Lily is a person who values group interest over self-interest. She feels that by working in a group, you will archive better results and you will also be able to bond with your fellow classmates. Lily is also a class monitress. She practises the school value in her daily life and also reminds her freinds too. She never teases people, but instead, she encourages them to build up their self-esteem."We have the freedom of speech, but we should not use it to hurt others," Lily says. When she sees someone vandalising the school property, she will walk up to them and say," You should not do this as others have the freedom to use it."Reflection:Freedom does not only mean that you have the freedom to do things. In fact, freedom comes in many different forms, like the freedom of speech. Everyone has the freedom of speech, but do we use it in the right way?Freedom can also mean that we should not destroy public property as others have the freedom to use it.If you destroy that thing, what do you gain or what do the others gain?I will not destroy the school property or public property.

JUSTICE

Justice

"Look at this place, it's so beautiful!" Santhiya's father said. The moment Santhiya stepped out of the car, she realised that everybody in the neighbourhood was from a race different from hers. She thought that she would be able to fit into this community, but then, it did not seemed to be. Everybody despised her as she was the only one that was different from the rest of the people. She felt very upset as she felt that there was no justice. One day, a new girl moved into the neighbourhood. She was also like Santhiya---she was an Indian. Unfortunately, she to became the next victim. She was bullied by her schoolmates in school and they never treated her with respect. As Santhiya could not stand it any more, she said to the bullies" Why are you treating us like that? What did we do to deserve this kind of treatment? We should be treated equally!" After hearing this, everyone felt very remorseful for how they treated the people from other races.Reflection: Justice means that everybody is equal in everyway. When something is wrong, we should step up and do what is right. I will not discriminate anyone by their race and religion

GRACIOUS AND HEALTHY LIFESTYLE

GRACIOUS AND HEALTHY LIFESTYLE

Brad loved to smoke. He did not care if the people around him would breathe the smoke. He also had other bad habits like spitting as and when he liked, throwing tissue paper on the table to let the cleaners clear them away. When he sees an old person on the bus, he would just ignore them and pretended not to see him/her.One day, a fairy came and spotted him jay walking. She went up to him and said"Just see yourself in the mirror and tell me what you see."Brad saw incorrigible man standing right before him.He seemed familiar to him and then he realised what he saw was the mirror imaged of himself. He was shocked! The fairy gave him some advice. He decided to turn over a new leaf. Reflection:I feel that gracious means that we should help those in need(e.g. orphans, poor people...)or those around us. This story is trying to tell us that we should be considerate to the people around us. Healthy Lifestyle means that we should not do things that will harm us(e.g. smoking, drinking alcohol, eating too much tidbits...) After eating, i will not throw the tissue paper in the plate because when the wind blows, the dirt on the tissue will be blown from the plate and the whole place will be dirty and the aunty have to clean up the whole place again.
